Historical Background
The Linie Battalion formed the solid centre of the Brunswick Ducal Field-Corps. Equipped with smoothbore flintlock muskets, these soldiers fought shoulder-to-shoulder in rigid two- or three-rank formations, delivering coordinated volleys at short range before closing with the bayonet.
